A pavilion is a fully roofed outdoor structure, basically an outdoor room with a real shingled roof, framed ceiling, and proper weather cover. You can sit under one through a downpour, hang a TV inside, run a ceiling fan, and use the space from April through Thanksgiving. Most of ours are cedar timber-framed with tongue-and-groove ceilings and stone or concrete pier columns. The big draw over a pergola is real weather protection. The big draw over a screened porch is that it stays open and connected to the yard.

Cedar pavilions with real shingled roofs start around $15,000. Most builds land between $30,000 and $60,000 depending on size, ceiling finish, and stone pier work.
What's the difference between a pergola and a pavilion?
A pergola has an open or slatted roof that filters light. A pavilion has a solid, shingled roof that keeps rain and sun off completely. Pavilions cost more, but they give you true year-round shelter.
What goes on top of a pavilion?
A real shingled roof matched to your house, with tongue-and-groove ceilings underneath. It reads as an extension of the home rather than a backyard add-on.
Can you add lighting, fans, or a TV?
Yes. We can rough in electrical for recessed lighting, ceiling fans, outlets, and a mounted TV during the build so the wiring stays clean and hidden.
How long does a pavilion take to build?
A pavilion is a bigger structure than a pergola, so it usually runs one to two weeks on site. From signing to finished is typically six to ten weeks.
